“You shoot your arrow and then you paint your bulls eye around it, and therefore you have hit the target dead center.”
“Seed and Sculpt” production approach:
Structured foundations or “seeds” of pre-recorded works are presented to contributing musicians who improvise over this foundational work in a series of sessions.
This tends toward a free- form and ongoing process where successive recordings are sculpted, that is to say edited, arranged, extended and refined.
Moreover, a back-and-forth exchange takes place where a later offering may inspire adjustments to previous tracks. The result of this approach reflects a dynamic relationship between all individual and eventual offerings within a given work.
Put another way: While successive recordings respond to earlier recordings, earlier recordings may also respond to later recordings through post production processes. Reasserting the “sound sculpture” analogy, this is in turns an additive and a subtractive process repeated from start to finish.
An underlying philosophy of this process is never to stress attempts to finish a particular piece of music, but rather wait for the work to present itself as complete. It follows that there will be a large and expanding body of unfinished work at all times from which completed works eventually ascend.

Drift Dome/ Draft_1 / w/ audio
This draft is perhaps 70-90% finished. A vision for the completion of this work includes the addition of a depth mask, camera moves and any number of fluid and particle effects, caustics. etc, which are triggered by audio and interact with the landscape.
Protoucher/ Draft_1 / w/ audio
This draft is also perhaps 70-90% finished. This “video- screen- like” composition is a good example of architecture which may serve well as a stylized format for the addition of divergent, narrative or thematic forms.
